Founded in 2012 by acclaimed artists Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, Chopped Liver Press was a platform for limited-edition books and posters that challenged perceptions of language, media, and contemporary culture. As the Studio and Creative Director, I had the privilege of leading all aspects of the company, from production to operations, in close collaboration with the artists.

Each poster in the series was crafted from selected pages of The New York Times , screen-printed by hand in the artists’ East London studio. The process always began with a carefully chosen quote—drawn from newspapers, literature or conversations —that reflected the artists’ influences and ideas. These quotes were then screen-printed onto the original newspaper pages, creating unexpected narratives that question our relationship with truth, media, and social networks. Radical and thought-provoking, the works confronted the incongruity of language and image, inviting viewers to reflect on how we consume information in today’s digital age.

Working closely with Adam and Oliver, the creative process was deeply collaborative, bringing us closer together as we explored shared themes of resistance, absurdity, and the power of words. From selecting quotes to experimenting with typography and the striking use of red ink, every step was a dialogue between art and idea. I oversaw the meticulous hand-screenprinting process, ensuring each piece met the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, while also managing relationships with galleries, collectors, and collaborators to ensure the project’s vision was realised seamlessly.

In addition to creative direction, I handled all aspects of the business, including logistics, sales, marketing, and financial management, enabling Chopped Liver Press to thrive as a sustainable creative venture. Through this work, I helped amplify the artists’ critical commentary on contemporary society, blending bold design with incisive cultural critique.

Though Chopped Liver Press has now closed its doors, the project remains a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring impact of thoughtful, handmade art. It was an extraordinary journey that not only strengthened my bond with Adam and Oliver but also reinforced my belief in the transformative potential of art to challenge and inspire.
